From a fresh cup of hot coffee in the morning in the winter to an iced coffee as an afternoon pick-me-up in the summer, Reno’s best coffee shops have plenty of delicious options. One of the best aspects of apartment living is community living, and coffee shops are a community staple, allowing you to get your caffeine fix and also support local businesses. And with other local businesses like independent bookstores, that’s not all Reno has to offer.

Top Three Spots

Star Village Coffee, a Native American-owned and family-operated Business, serves specialty drinks using ingredients endemic to the Great Basin. The coffee shop emphasizes the ceremonial and nutritional importance of food and drink, and its coffee is available in K-cups, beans, or ground. It is also dedicated to supporting tribal-owned businesses.

Similarly, Midnight Coffee Roasting uses responsibly sourced ingredients in its beverages. The coffee shop also offers individual bags of coffee for sale and a subscription service to ensure you never run out of your favorite, including espresso, decaf, and variety packs.

Since opening in 2022, Reno’s Cafe con Papi has used single-origin coffee beans sourced from Latin America, just as its ancestors did. The menu includes lattes, coffee, agua fresca, and small food items such as pastries, sandwiches, and more.

Supporting Local

A few things go great together, like coffee and a good book, so after grabbing a cup, visit the independent bookstore Grassroots Books, which offers paperbacks for $2.99 and hardcovers for $4.99. Their outside sale features even better deals, with titles priced at $1 or less.

Nothing beats a good cup of coffee regardless of the season, whether winter or summer. And what better way to support locals than to visit Reno’s best coffee shops and other businesses, like Grassroots Books? Reno has plenty of businesses to enjoy, from coffee shops to independent bookstores.

How To Make Your Home Summer Ready

As we say goodbye to the cold weather and welcome the warm, bright summer weather, you must find ways to make your home appealing and cool. You don’t want your apartment to be all hot and stuffy. Apartment living at The Retreat requires creativity and an apartment-friendly solution. If you are new to community living, here are a few tips to guide you on where to start.

Storing Winter and Spring Items, Bringing Out Summer Essentials

Start your summer preparations by organizing your living area. Set up a suitable storage solution for your winter and spring items. List the items that need to be stored and assess your storage capacity. For items sensitive to temperature changes, opt for a climate-controlled storage unit. Consider a ground-floor unit if you anticipate needing frequent access to these items for convenience.

Update your decor to reflect the season and decorate your space for summer. Swap out your existing centerpieces for the ones with summer vibes. Create eye-catching displays using bowls of seasonal fruits and flowers. You can also craft charming table accents using candle shells filled with candles. Seashells like scallops and clams are excellent choices; coat them with metallic paint and fill them with melted wax. Enhance the look with starfish and conch shells to complete the summer feel.

Shop Local

Reno’s summer is one of my favorite things in the world. After an epic, endless spring, there is a payoff at the end with an exciting summer with exciting activities in Reno. Summer is when you get a chance to go out in the large lakes and water falls in the Sierra and the Great Basin. There are various activities for outdoor or indoor people.

In Reno, you get to enjoy festivals and rodeos. The wildest, richest rodeo in the west, the Reno River Festival, or the Artown Art Festival. The events and schedules are available online, and you can buy tickets for each you wish to go to.
